France West Coast - Calais to Avranches

We harrived early enough to walk down each end of the beach and to stop at the cafe near the cliffs to try our first attempt at ordering something in French. We decided 'deux vin rouge s'il vous plait' was a good start. Success! Everyone takes 'carte du credit' so paying was easy too. I am continually surprised that they know we are not locals even before we open our mouths though - what is that? They start speaking English even though we are trying our best to give French a go!
